Hello everybody, I know there has been a little lag in new blog posts these days. And we have a very good reason for that coz it’s that time of the year again, when every child is so happy, so amused and has so many important plans. Yes, it is that time of the year when the school is closed for a long summer break (almost two months in our case). And like every little one, my little girl is also chalking out her summer vacation plans, and of course like every mother I am dreading a few of them too :). Been busy planning out her days and mine– thats why writing has taken a bit of a backseat and rightly so 😉
As I relive my childhood with my daughter, it makes me wonder what my mom used to go through, taking care of two high-energy kids at home during our summer break? There were such less choice of activities available to us at that time, but it was always the biggest time of the year. I remember my summer breaks, they generally involved Keyboard classes, sleepovers with cousins and friends, summer breaks at hill stations in northern India (as they were pretty close to us and also as they were a little cooler than Indian plains), playing cricket in our driveway (with all my cousins and brother), cycling in the evenings. It was always the most fun and undoubtedly the best time of the year.
So, coming back from the flashback– most of the time these days I am making plans of how to keep this little bundle of energy (my daughter) busy and keep her from watching television and her favorite shows on iPad. We have been busy with a couple of things:
— Visiting Hong Kong Disneyland (again and again!! Can’t get enough really!!)
—Doing some baking (she loves to help and watch me when I bake)
— Visiting HK Museums and other exhibits
— Finding new play areas in the city
— Practicing “cursive writing strokes”, I just can’t think of her writing only in print form (just bothers me right now- hope I’ll get over this phase soon)
— Swimming and tennis lessons
— And of course plan a summer break trip to some place that we’ve not visited so far (hope we are able to chose one soon)
These are a few plans that are helping us right now and we are having a blast so far. How are you keeping your kids busy this summer?
