It’s Saturday evening, both the kids are ready for bed and we tuck them in. It’s around 8.30 pm and of course we are home, the late nights and night outs have become a history, really!! Netflix has just been launched in Asia, so we sign up and plan to watch an awesome movie all snuggled up. So, tonight i call the shots and tell him “let’s watch a romantic movie… we finally have some choice!!” and after all the “net search” and imbd ratings nicely checked, we decide on watching a 1995 film called “Before Sunrise”.
The blanket is up, the couch is set and the pop corn is ready too! Such a romantic setting and just the two of us and the quiet house. Five minutes into the movie, i ask him if he was liking the movie and he very happily cuddled me and said ‘yes of course’ and we lay there watching the story of a man and woman who meet on a train and decide to spend one day/night together in Vienna, walking around the city and getting to know each other. Nothing much really happens in the movie apart from walking and talking and at one point i laugh out so loudly mostly on how compulsively we were watching such a slow and a boring movie (very unlike us), just to make sure we get some “our movie time” (or maybe it was just some snuggle time!!)
Don’t think we both were interested in the movie for more than ten minutes, but it was good to just sit and talk in between, discuss our trips together, talk about love and relationships, how we need more time just for us and plan for the vacation that we badly need to take. It was just like when we had met, so much to plan and talk, with no one shouting for attention (even if it was for a little while!). You sometimes need that reiteration that the spark and understanding is still there out loud (though you know you are the best thing to have happened to each… thanks to the day to day struggles and he being my support system) Well, the movie did give us some quality time for sure, which was more than what i had expected on a lazy Saturday evening at home.
